Manchester United beat Atlético Madrid 2-1 at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm to win the Snapdragon Cup.
Atlético took the lead early when Arnau Ortiz scored from a short corner routine in the fifth minute. United improved as the match went on and came back strongly in the second half. Bryan Mbeumo scored the equaliser from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute after Shea Lacey was fouled in the box.
Mbeumo then scored again in the 73rd minute after Atlético made a mistake while trying to play out from defence. That goal completed the comeback and gave United the trophy.
The win is United’s third Snapdragon Cup title. The match also gave the team a useful test against strong opposition before the new season begins. With more friendly matches still to come, United will be hoping to build momentum ahead of their domestic campaign.
