According to the official US Federal Bureau of Prisons register, the 56-year-old is now scheduled to be freed on January 24, 2028.

This marks the fifth time his projected release timeline has changed since his sentencing. Initially, his date fluctuated from an expected timeline in June 2028, down to April and then to February 23, 2028, before this latest adjustment to late January. In federal prisons, advanced releases are commonly granted when inmates earn credits through good conduct time or by completing approved institutional programmes.

He now has roughly 17 to 18 months left to serve of his 50-month sentence.

The news comes shortly after ABC News reported that Combs was placed in solitary confinement at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey. Prison staff moved him into disciplinary segregation following a physical altercation with another inmate.

The rapper was jailed following his October 2025 sentencing, where he received just over four years in prison after a New York jury found him guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

His legal team is currently appealing both the conviction and the sentence. This means his release timeline could change yet again depending on the decisions of the appellate court.
