The Lilongwe sky was illuminated by a display of 500 drones on Friday night as the Chinese Embassy in Malawi hosted a drone light show at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC).
The display formed part of the China–Malawi Symphony Gala for the Year of People-to-People Exchanges, an event aimed at promoting cultural interaction and strengthening relations between Malawians and Chinese people.
The drones flew in coordinated formations above the venue, creating different images and patterns that attracted the attention of spectators. People attending the event used their mobile phones to capture photographs and videos as the drones moved across the night sky.
The show was one of the major attractions of the evening and brought a modern form of entertainment to the cultural celebrations. It also provided an opportunity for people in Lilongwe to witness the use of drone technology in a large public event.
The event comes as the Chinese Embassy continues to support activities promoting people-to-people exchanges between Malawi and China. The embassy has also been involved in initiatives aimed at strengthening cultural interaction and cooperation between the two countries.
For those who witnessed the display at BICC and surrounding areas, the sight of hundreds of lights moving together across the Lilongwe sky made the evening a memorable.
The drone show ended with the lights disappearing into the night sky, bringing to a close one of the main attractions of the China–Malawi gala.
